Labouring in La Jolla

May 20th, 2009 by Nik

We are down in California, soaking up the Pacific breeze as we meet with various suppliers for upcoming productions. Sitting looking over the ocean from the deck is a pretty good place for meetings. Perhaps this would make a good spot for the PRP southern ‘retreat’ office.

PNE Auditions

May 19th, 2009 by Ruth

While most people were outside enjoying the warmth and sunshine of the long weekend, PRP was hard at work with auditions for the 2009 Fair at the PNE.  Over 200 eager performers lined up at the Pacific Coliseum for the chance to be part of three exciting PRP productions:  KABOOM!, Toon Rock Parade & KC Bear’s Street Party.  With 50 roles available, the competition was intense.  It was great to see the immense talent that is available right here in the lower mainland.  Thanks to everyone for coming out.  Successful candidates will be notified in early June.

For more pictures from the auditions, connect with PRP Backstage for a behind the scenes look into many of our productions.

Spreading the word of Vancouver 2010 through Europe

May 10th, 2009 by Nik

On a recent family vacation to Europe, we had an impromptu  meeting with the mayor of Riedstadt, Germany, as we had a tour through the City Hall. It was interesting to hear what people knew (or didn’t know) about Vancouver and the Olympics. The Germans are quite dialed on sporting specifics such as the technical aspects of the 2010 Biathlon Course but many still do not grasp the immensity of the size of Canada.

Red Cross Red Carpet Soiree

May 7th, 2009 by Ruth

Last night, Patrick, Heather and I “dressed to the nines” to attend the 2nd annual Red Cross Red Carpet Soiree.  An event to raise awareness and fundraise for Red Cross programs in the lower mainland, the event also celebrated the Red Cross Centennial in Canada.  Held at the Blue Water Café in Yaletown, the evening began on the red carpet as we posed for our “celebrity” photo shoot, followed by an indulgence of delectable canapés, gourmet wine and shopping galore, as we perused the many items available in the silent auction.  We were hoping for auction victory with a “team building” item, but were outbid in the final seconds.  All in all, it was enjoyable night with many friends and colleagues.  We look forward to next year’s event.

Congratulations Linda and Anita for a great event!
